FM Liberman meets with US Secy Clinton
FM Liberman met on Tuesday in Washington with US Secy of State Clinton, where they discussed issues currently on the agenda in the Middle East.
FM Liberman thanked Secretary Clinton for the United States' firm position regarding Iran, and noted that the steps taken in recent weeks send an important message to the entire region.

At his meeting with Minister Niebel, Ayalon proposed broadening MASHAV cooperation and examining the possibility of setting up a joint center for sustainable development and responses to climate change.
DFM Ayalon said at the opening panel of the Munich Security Conference, "The Iranian regime today is just as dangerous to the world as Hitler was in the 1930s."

PM Netanyahu (23 January 2012): "A few days ago we heard very serious remarks by the Palestinian Mufti in Jerusalem. The call to murder Jews simply because they are Jews is a terrible thing from an ethical point of view and is an obstacle to peace. Incitement in general is an obstacle to peace. What is especially serious is that as of today, not only has the Palestinian Authority neither condemned nor taken exception to the remarks, it enabled them to be broadcast on official Palestinian television.

An Israeli company has founded a business based on a "super" strain of argan developed in Israeli nurseries that is tolerant of the Mediterranean climate and can produce 10 times more nuts than the average tree in Morocco.

At Giv'at Yonah (the Hill of Jonah) in Ashdod, which according to various traditions is identified with the burial place of the prophet Jonah, archaeological finds of a large fortress were exposed, verifying the existence of life there during the First Temple period, at the time of Jonah.

FM Liberman told Ban Ki-moon that Israel appreciates the stand he took and the unequivocal message he expressed against the unilateral measures taken by the Palestinians at the UN. He told World Bank Pres Zoellick that only economic development and the creation of a strong middle class in the Palestinian Authority will be able to bring about a true peace in which Israel and the Palestinians can live side by side.

Disabled athletes joined Mayor Nir Barkat to rappel down Jerusalem's Old City walls during International Disability Awareness Month in December. Barkat's rappelling buddy was Nati Gruber, 42, who represented Israel at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics in hand cycling and expects to compete in the London Games this summer.

Since 1967 more than one hundred thousand kibbutz volunteers have arrived in Israel. The kibbutz movement celebrated its centennial anniversary last year and among the many events was the special reunion trip for past volunteers. Following the success, the kibbutz movement is organizing a similar reunion trip for next year.
