  Anti-Semitic Incidents throughout the World

(Communicated by Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
October 15, 2000

The Foreign Ministry expresses its concern over the growing number of anti-semitic incidents in countries throughout the world - and especially in Europe - in the wake of the riots in the West Bank and Gaza.

These anti-semitic incidents, which include the torching of synagogues, the desecration of Jewish cemeteries, physical attacks against Jewish individuals, graffiti and slurs, should elicit shock and disgust among all civilized people.

The Foreign Ministry calls upon the relevant governments to take immediate action to halt these anti-semitic and racist incidents, and to bring to justice the perpetrators of these criminal acts in accordance with the fullest extent of the law.
