The following services are offered at Israeli missions abroad:
- Report of Israeli birth abroad
- Application for completion/correction in the Population Registry or Register of Births
- Notice of changes in personal status
- Notice of choice of name
- Notice of change of name
REPORT OF BIRTH ABROAD
A child born abroad of an Israeli parent has Israeli nationality by virtue of birth. The birth must be registered at the nearest mission within 30 days. You must bring the following documents: Birth certificate of the child, authenticated Israeli travel document of the parent, or any other document proving Israeli nationality The child will be registered and receive an identity number and an Israeli passport, after filling out the appropriate forms and payment of a fee.
APPLICATIONS FOR COMPLETION/CORRECTION IN THE POPULATION REGISTRY OR REGISTER OF BIRTHS
It is possible to apply for correction of a detail in the Population Registry relating to oneself or one's children (where the detail is incorrect) in the following instances:
- Correction of name
- Correction of name of parent
- Correction of birthplace, birth date
- Correction of aliya date
- Correction of personal status
The following forms are required:
- Registration form for Israeli nationals abroad
- Application for changes/completions/corrections of details of the Population Registry
You must submit these forms for each birth. The birth must be registered at the mission for continued processing.
NOTICE OF CHANGES IN PERSONAL STATUS (MARRIAGE, DIVORCE, WIDOWHOOD)
While abroad, it is obligatory to notify a mission within 30 days of a marriage, divorce or death, by means of an official, signed, authenticated certificate.
The following forms must be submitted:
- Registration form for Israeli nationals abroad
- Notice of change in personal status.
You must submit these forms to a mission for continued processing.
NOTICE OF CHOICE OF NAME According to the Names Law, anyone whose personal status changes as a result of marriage, divorce or widowhood may give notice (after reporting on a change of personal status) as to what his family name will be henceforth, according to the following options:
- continue to use the current family name, or revert to any family name used in the past, with no limit on repeat choices.
- choose the spouse's current family name as the current family name of the applicant.
- add the spouse's family name to the current family name of the applicant.
- add a new family name to the current names of both spouses.
- choose a new family name together with the spouse.
To make the choice of name official, the following forms are required:

- Notice form for choice of name
You must submit these forms to a mission for continued processing.
NOTICE OF CHANGE OF NAME
An adult, over the age of 18, may change his family and/or his private name, subject to the approval of the Ministry of the Interior. One who changes his name may not, by law, change it again for 7 years, unless approval is granted by the Ministry of the Interior.
To change a name, the following forms are required:
- Registration form for Israeli nationals abroad
- Notice form for change of name
You must apply to the nearest mission for continued processing.
