Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni today (Thursday, 23 Nov) led a group of some two dozen foreign diplomats on a visit to Sderot, the southern town closest to the Gaza Strip that has become the target of a daily barrage of Kassam rockets fired by Palestinian terrorists.
The tour began with a stop at an exhibit of the remnants of scores of Kassams that have hit Sderot - more than 1,000 of which have terrorized the town since Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip last year.
Next the group viewed the wall of a school embedded with shrapnel from Kassam rockets and was briefed on measures taken to protect schoolchildren by Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal.
The foreign diplomats also got a close-up view of the adjacent Gazan town of Beit Hanoun, which has been transformed by Palestinian terrorists into a launching pad for Kassams.
