FM Livni calls to continue to fight Iran's nuclear development

4 Dec 2007

FM Livni briefs Israeli ambassadors: "The critical moment is the acquisition of nuclear technology, after which Iran will be able to use this knowhow in order to produce weapons secretly, without inspection."

(Communicated by the Foreign Minister's Bureau)

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tzipi Livni this evening (4 December 2007) briefed Israeli ambassadors abroad and instructed them to continue the struggle against Iran's nuclear program:

"All are in agreement that the world cannot accept a nuclear Iran. Iran's efforts to obtain nuclear weapons have been clearly proven, and it is clear to all that Iran is continuing its efforts to acquire nuclear technology. The critical moment is the acquisition of the technology, after which Iran will be able to use this knowhow in order to produce weapons secretly, without inspection. The policy of sanctions has proved effective, and continued coordinated and determined action is needed to intensify the sanctions by all means available to the international community. On the basis of this accepted common denominator, we are continuing to strive against Iran's nuclear development."
