(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson)

Last week the Israel Foreign Ministry's Asia and Pacific Division hosted a delegation of diplomats specializing in Israel and Middle Eastern affairs from foreign ministries in Asia - among them representatives from Japan, China, Sri Lanka and Mongolia. The purpose of the special seminar was to deepen the diplomats' knowledge and awareness of Israel and the situation in the Middle East.

The Asian diplomats visited the Israel Foreign Ministry and the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial, and toured Jerusalem, the Golan Heights and the Israel-Lebanese border. On the last day of their visit, they visited the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon, viewed the city of Gaza from a lookout post with an IDF representative, and toured the city of Sderot.
