Foreign Ministry response to Kassam rocket barrage and death of Sapir College student

27 Feb 2008

Roni Yihye, a student at Sapir College, was killed by a Kassam rocket.

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)

The Hamas terrorism against innocent civilians that emanates from Gaza is continuing. Sapir College, where a student, Roni Yihye, was killed today (27 February) by a Kassam rocket, and the Barzilai Hospital in Askelon - these are the targets at which Hamas is aiming its rockets.

The firing of rockets by Hamas at Israeli civilians from within populated Palestinian areas is a war crime that harms both Israelis and Palestinians. Hamas' terrorism does not only endanger the lives of Israeli and Palestinian civilians, it also endangers peace and stability in the region as a whole.

Israel will continue to defend itself against terror attacks from the Gaza Strip.
