FM Liberman meets with Dutch FM Verhagen

The two discussed bilateral issues as well as international and regional issues concerning the Middle East and the peace process with the Palestinians.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman met today (Wednesday, 11 November 2009) in The Hague with Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen.

In their meeting, the two discussed bilateral issues as well as international and regional issues concerning the Middle East and the peace process with the Palestinians.

FM Liberman stated that it is important to create a positive dynamic momentum and mutual respect, and noted four main steps that will provide this:

- Direct negotiations between the two parties
- Commitment to desist from using violence and terror
- Termination of incitement and international diplomatic maneuverings
- Cooperation that will lead to a significant improvement of the economic and security situations in Palestinian Authority territories and in Judea and Samaria

FM Liberman will also meet today with the chairman of the House of Representatives, and have a working meeting with the European and Foreign Affairs Committee.
