Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman and US Middle East envoy George Mitchell met this afternoon (Tuesday, 9 June 2009) in Jerusalem.
FM Liberman and Senator Mitchell discussed several central issues on the agenda, such as regional developments, including the Iranian threat, the election results in Lebanon, efforts to promote the political process between Israel and the Palestinians, and the necessity for all parties to fulfill their obligations in the process: Israel, the Palestinians and the Arab states.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere, and the continued cooperation and friendship between the United States and Israel was emphasized.
Senator Mitchell reiterated the Unites States' unshakeable commitment to Israel's security.
