Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman commented on the report of the Goldstone Fact-Finding Mission, which was published on Tuesday, and said that the Goldstone Mission was established for the express purpose of finding Israel guilty of war crimes and that, furthermore, the members of the Mission didn’t let themselves be confused by the facts.

The whole purpose of the report, from the moment it was decided to write it, was to destroy Israel’s image through the agency of states to which the concepts of “human rights” and “ethical warfare” are totally foreign.

FM Liberman said he could state unequivocally, as can anyone who examines the matter objectively, that the IDF is the most moral army in the world, forced to confront the most despicable terrorists, who have as their goal the murder of women and children, while they themselves hide behind women and children.

The Goldstone report, according to the foreign minister, attempts to return the UN to the dark days when certain states, looking out for their own interests, declared that “Zionism equals racism”. The Goldstone report has no judicial, factual or moral value, Liberman continued, and it says more about the authors and supporters of the report than about the State of Israel.

The State of Israel will continue to protect its citizens from terrorist attacks and its soldiers from attacks of hypocrisy and distortion, FM Liberman stated.
