Israel praises the European Parliament's resolution (11 March 2010) demanding the immediate release by Hamas of abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, and the granting of all the rights and obligations to which he is entitled according to the Geneva Convention, including doctor's visits and communication with his parents.
This is a clear and moral resolution calling for an end to the painful issue of the confinement of Gilad Shalit in contradiction of all accepted international criteria.
Israel calls on the international community to continue to press Hamas for the immediate release of Gilad Shalit.
