FM Liberman to Brussels for EU meetings

At EU Association Council meeting, Israel's relations with the European Union will be discussed.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Liberman is leaving today (20 February 2011) for Brussels for a meeting of the EU Association Council. The meeting will be chaired by Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martonyi in the role of EU presidency, with the attendance of Stefan Fule, of the European Commission Enlargement. At the meeting, Israeli-EU relations will be discussed.

While in Brussels, FM Liberman will also meet with Dutch FM Uriel Rosenthal, Danish FM Lene Espersen, Bulgarian FM Nikolai Mladenov, and with Finnish FM Alexander Stubb. Liberman and his counterparts will discuss strengthening Israel’s ties with the EU, bilateral issues and how developments in the Middle East impact on the region.

FM Liberman is due to return to Israel on Tuesday, 22 February.
