Dear Reader:

Our Summer 1993 edition focuses on several issues, most prominent of which are Israel's breakthroughs in the critical area of solid waste management. Following years of effort, the government has approved a plan to rid the countryside of hundreds of unauthorized garbage dumps and to replace them with several environmentally- sound landfills. Concurrently, a recently-approved recycling law promises to lay the foundation for separation at sourcefurther contributing to a cleaner, more aesthetic Israel.
