At today's (Tuesday) 11.8.98 cabinet meeting on the budget, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the budget will emphasize three central components: Emphasis on strengthening security; investment in infrastructure and creating growth. The Prime Minister said that he has accepted the strategic decision to increase the defense budget in light of increasing nearby and distant threats.

The total budget and its proportional allocation will be detailed at the cabinet meeting. Under consideration is a multi-year program to meet these threats. Such a program has never been made in the past.
