Yediot Aharonot maintains that "On the issue of sanctions against Iran, the Obama administration is acting seriously and with determination. The foot-dragging that characterized the US government in the past, has been replaced by a sense of urgency. This conclusion is apparent, as well, from WikiLeaks documents. Obama deserves praise from Israel, not scorn and ridicule."
Ma'ariv points out that "Now of all times, when the war over Israel's image in the world is as tough as ever, the Finance Minister intends to increase the tax burden on foreign journalists living here. While it would contribute a few hundred thousand shekels to the state, it would also cause serious damage many times over."
Yisrael Hayom discusses Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's efforts in the peace process and says that "There are those, both inside and outside Israel, who interpret them as a sign of weakness." The author notes that "On the Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran front, they are viewed as proof of success in their efforts to weaken Israel's position and its survivability. The State of Israel finds itself under missile attack, which has become so routine it almost isn't even noticed."
The Jerusalem Post criticizes the ostensible anti-Israel bias of some human rights watchdog groups, and states that "As long as the specifics, and the wider realities, are intentionally ignored by human rights groups maintaining cynical anti-Israeli campaigns, the root problems afflicting Israelis and Palestinians will continue to be distorted, misunderstood, and consequently, all the harder to resolve."
Haaretz discusses the appointment by Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch of Maj. Gen. Yohanan Danino to be the next national police commissioner, and states: "Aharonovitch likely believes that Danino, who is likely to serve as commissioner in a shifting political landscape, will be his true partner in effecting critical changes in the Israel Police."
