ISRAELI DELEGATION TO DEPART FOR ENVIRONMENTAL DISCUSSIONS IN BAHRAIN

An Israeli delegation headed by Environment Minister Yossi Sarid will,
today (Sunday), 23.10.94, leave for Bahrain to participate in discussions
on environmental matters, in the framework of the multilateral
negotiations.
The discussions will be held in working groups from 24-26.10.94. This
seventh round of discussions will be attended by participants from 42
countries, including most of the Arab, and all of the Gulf, countries. The
following issues will be discussed: the joint Israeli-Jordanian-Egyptian
project concerning the campaign against water pollution in the Gulf of
Eilat, desertification, sewage, and environmental awareness. An
environment treaty for Mediterranean countries will apparently be
proclaimed at the end of the meetings.
Minister Sarid will be the first Israeli minister to visit Bahrain; he
will tour the island and meet with its Jewish community.
