REGIONAL CRISIS RESOLUTION CENTER TO BE ESTABLISHED
(Communicated by Defense Ministry Spokesman)
Jerusalem, 17 October 1994
A center for the resolution of regional crises will be established in one of
the countries in the region, perhaps Jordan. This was decided in talks which
took place in Paris last week in the framework of the working group on arms
control and regional security. During the discussions, a declarative
document was formulated which describes the security and peace relations of
the whole region. The formulation of the document will be completed at the
next meeting of the working group which will be held in December in Tunisia.
The talks took place in a pleasant atmosphere and issues connected to long-
ange objectives were discussed. The United States and Russia chaired all
discussions in which representatives of 12 Arab states Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria and others
participated.
Another meeting is planned for the beginning of November in Jordan and a
plenary session for December in Tunisia. The Israeli delegation was composed
of representatives from the Defense Ministry, Foreign Ministry and other
government bodies.
