COMMITTEE OF EXPERTS ON 1967 REFUGEES TO MEET IN BE'ER-SHEVA

(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)

The first meeting of the quadripartite meeting on the issue of the 1967 refugees at the expert level will convene on Wednesday, June 7, 1995, at the Neot Hamidbar Hotel in Be'er Sheva. The decision to establish the committee of experts was made during the meeting of the Israeli, Egyptian, and Jordanian foreign ministers, and a representative of the Palestinian Authority, in Amman on March 7, 1995, at which they began to discuss the refugees issue, as required by the Oslo Agreement. The final decision on convening the meeting of experts was taken at the meeting of the Israeli-Palestinian Liaison Committee, held in Cairo approximately one month ago, with the participation of Foreign Minister Peres and Nabil Sha'ath.

The participants at the Be'er Sheva meeting will set an agenda and other working procedures for their discussion. The Israeli delegation is headed by former Foreign Ministry Director-General Dr. Yosef Hadas, and includes Autonomy Department Director Baruch Ilan and the Coordinator of the Multilateral Working Group on Refugee Affairs, Danny Nevo. The Palestinian delegation will be headed by Dr. Zuhari Said; the Jordanian delegation by Foreign Ministry official Abdallah Matzdehah; and the Egyptian delegation by Ambassador Bader Hamam, the Foreign Minister's Advisor on

Middle Eastern Affairs.
