DM MORDECHAI SENDS CONDOLENCES TO LEBANON

Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai, this evening (Monday), 18.8.97,
expresses his deepest regrets over the attack on innocent civilians in
Lebanon. Attacks of this type are totally against Israeli policy and the
instructions of the Defense Minister. The Defense Minister has instructed
to use the fullest influence on all factors in order to immediately cease
such attacks on civilians. In addition, strict instructions have been
handed down to South Lebanese Army factors to avoid shelling civilians.
