JOINT ECONOMIC COMMITTEE MEETS

Finance Ministry Director-General Prof. Ben-Zion Zilberfarb and Economic
Advisor to the Palestinian Authority Chairman Muhammad Rashid met today
(Monday) 2.11.98, in Ramallah in the framework of the Israeli-Palestinian
Joint Economic Committee (JEC).
A decision was made to meet at least once a week over the next six weeks.
The initial meetings will determine joint operative steps to handle the
issues of Palestinian debts to various Israeli bodies and a joint effort
to fight car theft. The parties also agreed to prepare joint reports as
required by the Wye Memorandum.
