  V. THE FAILURE OF THE ARMISTICE

5. Aims of the Arab boycott.

The following excerpts indicate clearly the nature of the boycott and its place in the overall Arab struggle against Israel:

a. "Since the establishment of the State of Israel, the Arab Governments have adopted various means for liberating the plundered land. The economic boycott against Israel has been and still is one of those means..."

(Introduction to The Boycott of Israel - Its Principles and Objectives, Central Boycott Office, Damascus, August 1956, Arabic)

b. "During the years following the establishment of the State of Israel, the League concentrated on two areas of activity - the refugee problem and an intensified boycott designed to achieve the objectives which the military campaign had not accomplished."

(The Arab League, 1945-55, International Conciliation Series, Carnegie Endowment, 1955., p. 413)
