The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force has been supervising the 31 May 1974 Israel-Syria disengagement agreement. The discussion on the extension of the mandate provided an opportunity for various nations to express their views on the general situation in the Middle East. It was resolved that the disengagement agreements were only a step towards peace. The resolution was adopted by 13 to none, with China and Iraq not participating in the vote.
