President Peres and FM Livni represent Israel at UN Interfaith Conference

President Shimon Peres and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni are representing Israel at an Interfaith Conference at the United Nations being held from November 12-13. The goal of the conference is the advancement of the ongoing interfaith dialogue between the representatives of the convening religions.

President Peres and King Abdallah of Saudi Arabia will take part in a special assembly entirely dedicated to the bringing together of religions and will make remarks from the same stage together with presidents, prime ministers, and kings. In addition to religious leaders, leaders from throughout the world will join the conference to discuss the topic at hand. Some of the other leaders expected to take part in the conference include: the President of the United States of America, the King of Bahrain, the Emir of Kuwait, the King of Jordan, the President of Lebanon, the Prime Minister of Yemen, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, the President of the Palestinian Authority, the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister of Italy, and other leaders.

President Peres and Foreign Minister Livni will also take advantage of the special conference to hold a round of comprehensive state meetings with the delegations of leaders from the Arab world.

President Shimon Peres will address the Main Assembly of the Interfaith Conference at the United Nations on behalf of the State of Israel on Wednesday, November 12 at approx. 11:15 EST (18:15 Israel time). Immediately following his speech, President Peres along with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gabriela Shalev are scheduled to hold a press conference.
