(Communicated by Interior Ministry Spokeswoman)

The Jerusalem District Planing and Construction Committee at the Interior Ministry today (Wednesday) 29.12.99, approved plans for the rehabilitation of the Beit Hanina neighborhood in northern Jerusalem, including the building of 1,100 housing units.

The plan was developed in coordination with the residents community administration, the Jerusalem Municipality and private investors. The plan is based on private land and will not require combining or dividing existing plots, thus allowing rapid implementation. In addition, the plans increased the amount of land for construction from 50 to 70%, enabling better utilization of available land. It also covers the widening of streets and provides for land for public use.
