PM Barak Meets Turkish President Demirel

Prime Minister Ehud Barak, today (Wednesday),
14.7.99, in Jerusalem met with visiting Turkish
President Suleyman Demirel and emphasized that Israel
views its relations with Turkey as extremely important,
and that these relations pose no threat or hindrance to
Israel's relations with other countries.
"We are currently experiencing renewed momentum in
the peace process with our Arab neighbors," the Prime
Minister said. "I intend to continue this process with
full determination until we reach a comprehensive
settlement."
Prime Minister Barak stressed that the visit by President
Demirel, the first foreign leader to visit Israel since the
Prime Minister assumed office, symbolizes the close
relations between the two countries.
The two men discussed Middle East regional processes,
bilateral relations and expressed their hope for continued
fruitful cooperation in joint economic and social
projects.
