Statement on Withdrawal from Lebanon

The Defense Minister's Media Advisor today (Wednesday) 24.5.2000, at
03:00, announces as follows:
In accordance with the Inner Cabinet decision of 22.5.2000 which
authorized the Prime Minister and Defense Minister in consultation with
the IDF Chief of Staff to determine the date of the IDF redeployment in
south Lebanon, the Prime Minister and Defense Minister ordered the IDF
to pull out of Lebanon.
The Prime Minister and Defense Minister calls upon all the elements in
Lebanon to act with restraint and in a responsible manner. He adds that
Israel will respond severely to any attack on its sovereignty, citizens
or soldiers.
