Cabinet Communique

At the weekly Cabinet meeting today (Sunday), November 24, 2002:

1. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon praised Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, the IDF, the Israel Police, the Border Police, ISA and volunteers of various organizations and civilians working to thwart terror attacks by Palestinian terrorists. The Prime Minister also commented on the high awareness and endurance of the population at large. Prime Minister Sharon congratulated Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the information activities initiated by the Foreign Ministry in the aftermath of Thursday's suicide bombing. Prime Minister Sharon noted that inviting foreign diplomats to the hospitals (see FM Netanyahu visits Jerusalem terrorist attack wounded) was of great importance vis-a-vis representing the situation in Israel and in mobilizing local, regional and world public opinion.

2. In accordance with Basic Law: The President, President Moshe Katsav will make an official state visit to Germany and Italy. President Katsav will meet with heads of state and government, and with the local Jewish communities.
