(Communicated by the Prime Minister's Media Adviser)

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Monday, January 28, 2002, appointed Minister Danny Naveh to head a team that will check and assess economic damages for which the Palestinian Authority is responsible and which have been caused as a result of the Palestinian terrorist war against Israel and its citizens since September 2000.

The team will examine and assess the overall damages to the state regarding payments to victims of terrorist attacks and their families, losses to the Israeli economy, security expenditures for the war on terrorism, and damages caused to both the citizens of the state and Israeli companies. The team will map out the various types of damages, their scope and the direct and indirect responsibility of the Palestinian Authority for the damages.

The other members of the team are Minister Matan Vilnai and Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein, as well as representatives from the Foreign Affairs, Defense, Justice, Finance, and Labor and Social Welfare ministries and the IDF.

The team will hold its first meeting next week.
