PM Sharon speaks to Secy of State Rice

27 Feb 2005

(Communicated by the Prime Minister’s Media Adviser)

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon spoke this afternoon (Sunday), 27 February 2005, with US Secretary of State Dr. Condoleeza Rice, who telephoned in order to convey US President George W. Bush’s condolences to the families of those who were killed in last Friday’s terrorist attack in Tel Aviv.

Prime Minister Sharon noted that as long as Abu Mazen takes no tangible steps against the terrorist organizations, including their disbandment, and as long as he tries to reach understandings with them, terrorism such as we witnessed last Friday will continue, and Israel cannot accept this.

Prime Minister Sharon said that as of now Abu Mazen has taken no practical measures against terrorism, and added that without active steps by the Palestinians, there will be no transition towards implementing the first stage of the Roadmap.
