The Cabinet will, on Sunday, 17 September 2006, discuss a proposal to appoint an inquiry committee according to Article 8A of the Government Law. The committee will examine the functioning of both the political leadership and the security establishment regarding the campaign in the north.
The establishment of the committee was decided upon following consultations with - and with the assent of - Attorney General Meni Mazuz and the members of the committee chaired by Nahum Admoni.
Retired Judge Eliyahu Winograd, who was approved by Attorney General Mazuz following a conflict-of-interests check, will chair the committee. The other members of the committee will be selected by the Cabinet meeting.
