Three Palestinian police stations opened

3 Jun 2008

(Communicated by the IDF Spokesman)

Three Palestinian police stations were opened today in the villages of Tammun, Al-Fa'ra and Al-Aqaba, southeast of Jenin, following the Defense Minister's and Chief of Staff's approval of the plan to ease restrictions for Palestinians in Judea and Samaria. So far 10 police stations were opened out of the 20 stations planned.

The Palestinian police will be responsible for enforcing criminal and public law among the villages in the region.

The stations were opened following meetings of IDF and Civil Administration officers with the Palestinian Authority security officials in the region. Similar meetings are expected later this week.
