The foundation of a large fortress situated there during the First Temple period was exposed in an excavation the Israel Antiquities Authority.
 
Stamp with Temple menorah uncovered near Akko

The tiny stamp was used in the 6th century to identify baked products and it probably belonged to a bakery that supplied kosher bread to the Jews of Akko in the Byzantine period.
 
Rare find indicative of activity in the Temple

A first of its kind find, indicative of activity in the Temple, was recently discovered: a tiny item that probably "certified" the ritual purity of an object or food in the Temple Mount compound and in the Second Temple.
 
1,600 year-old bathhouse discovered in Judean hills

On the eve of Tisha B'Av, commemorating the anniversary of the destruction of the First and Second Temples, artifacts were exposed that breathe new life into the story of the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem.
 
Rare gold bell discovered in excavations in Jerusalem

The bell was apparently sewn to the garment worn by a high official in Jerusalem at the end of the Second Temple period.
 
Byzantine church and mosaic floor uncovered at Hirbet Madras

A large and beautiful mosaic floor and a church were uncovered in excavations carried out by the Israel Antiquities Authority at Hirbet Madras in the Judean coastal plain - possibly the residence and tomb of the prophet Zechariah.
 
Ancient Roman bathing pool uncovered in Jerusalem

A 1,800 year old bathing pool, probably part of a bathhouse used by the Roman soldiers who destroyed the Temple, was exposed in excavations the Israel Antiquities Authority is conducting prior to the construction of a new miqve in Jerusalem.

Fragments of a cuneiform tablet, dating from the 18th-17th centuries BCE were found in Hebrew University of Jerusalem archaeological excavations at Hazor in the north of Israel.
