The Museum of Italian Jewish Art is hosting the world renowned conductor Lorin Maazel, who will be conducting a unique concert performed by the Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra and the Slovac Philharmonic Choir from Bratislava, to be broadcast live to 40 countries around the world.
In a unique gesture towards the people of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, in an effort to promote peace and life, the world renowned conductor Lorin Maazel will be conducting a special concert of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. The concert will be held at the Jerusalem Theatre on December 22, 2004, in the presence of Israel Tourism Minister Gideon Ezra, Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski, Italian Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Sandro De Bernardin, representatives of the Vatican, and other public figures from Italy who will be arriving for the occasion, to take part in a series of special events.
The concert will be preceded by artistic performances in the streets of Jerusalem and Bethlehem by the medieval flag throwers, the Sabandiertori of Cori, and the unique marching band, Fanfara of the Bersaglieri. Both groups will also perform at the Museum of Italian Jewish Art.
