(Communicated by the Foreign Ministry Spokesman)
A marketing campaign for the marketing of Israeli apples in Syria begins today (Feb 26).
For the third consecutive year, Druze farmers from the Golan Heights will market their produce across the border in Syria.
The campaign, which is due to last between eight to ten weeks, is organized through the cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Defense and the IDF. Exports to Syria are coordinated with the Red Cross and the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).
The Israeli sponsorship in the marketing of approximately 10,000 tons of apples was a humanitarian response to a request by Druze farmers, for whom apple cultivation is a main source of income.
