On the Cutting Edge of High Tech

30 Jan 2005

Israel has become a leading player in the global software industry, developing breakthrough software.

Did you know?

“We are investing and continue to invest in our research and development in Israel... Israel has become a place in which the biggest technology companies recruite high tech brilliance.”
Bill Gates

In a country roughly the size of New Jersey, with a population of only 6.6 million people (less than 1/1,000th of the world's population), Israel's booming high tech community embraces some 3,000 companies, an estimated 2,000 start-ups, and over 200 projects under development in government-funded incubators.

In fact, Israel has become a leading player in the global software industry, developing breakthrough software solutions, and earning the industry - and the country - its international reputation for innovation, creativity, and cutting-edge technologies. By permeating every facet of everyday life, Israel has been named the world’s “second Silicon Valley.”

M-Systems’ DiskOnChips Series
M-Systems’ DiskOnKey fits into any USB connection on your computer, laptop, keyboard, Palm and more, and can hold any type of file
including music and video.
M-Systems’
DiskOnKey is small enough to fit in your pocket.

M-SYSTEMS

Israeli designed and manufactured technology is propelling the high
tech world forward.

Electronic devices are getting smaller and smaller, yet their memory
capabilities are growing larger M-Systems is one company contributing
greatly to this field.

As a result of M-Systems’ innovations in “NAND flash” technology, simple
everyday electronic devices are transformed into advanced, data-centric, personal computing platforms. High-capacity, non-volatile memory is the key to this new-generation mobile world.

M-Systems’ DiskOnKey is one practical example of this amazing technology. It is a pen-sized solid-state hard drive small enough to attach to your keychain and still hold large amounts of data. “Flash” memory has revolutionized our electronic world.

“DiskOnChip has gained acceptance as the preferred data storage solution for high-end mobile handsets.”
Masashi Muromachi, Vice president of Toshiba Corporation

PC-Notetaker
Computer users rejoice! You no longer have to be a slave to your laptop.

The PC-Notetaker - Electronic Pen enables users to write on ordinary
paper and immediately transmit the pages into a database, or store it
in the Flash memory (in the mobile version) and download up to 40 pages to your computer later.

The PC NoteTaker and the Mobile NoteTaker look and act like ordinary
pens but there are electronic components inside including a small ultrasonic transmitter. The system's base unit contains two ultrasonic receivers with powerful processing capacity.

Virtual Laser Keyboard
Israeli know-how is bringing you the future - today.

No room on your desk for a computer keyboard? The virtual laser keyboard doesn't take up any space.

An infrared image of a normal-sized keyboard is projected onto any flat
surface. Users type naturally on the projection as if it were an actual
keyboard. The virtual laser keyboard can be used anywhere - from trains,
to planes, to factories.

The keyboard works miracles in sterile environments such as operating rooms. Whereas expensive disposable protective membranes have covered keyboards, the virtual laser keyboard can be projected on any surface,
making it easy to clean.

You can use the VKB (Virtual PC Keyboard) with both your laptop and PC and with compatible mobile devices, Smartphones and PDAs. The VKB comes in two versions - Wired and Bluetooth.

POWERPAPER

Move over DD. PowerPaper is the new battery on the block.

PowerPaper is a “battery” unlike any other and is leading the revolution
that allows increasingly tiny cell phones, MP3 players and other
handhelds to hold power for long periods of time. Thin enough to be
printed on paper, the energy cells are also flexible and can be adapted
to fit any product.

PowerPaper’s readable paper-thin flexible label technology is also
revolutionizing inventory keeping. Many companies now track inventory
using bar-code technology, which has a relatively high failure rate. PowerPaper developed a new generation of radio frequency identification (RFID) systems that can remotely process data at various distances, even through “challenging” materials.

INTEL

Why was Israel selected by Intel for its first international design and
development center in 1974 and again for its first international facility
to manufacture microprocessors and memory in 1981? Because Israel’s
high-caliber researchers offered Intel the ingenuity needed to become
the world leader in computer chips and chipsets.

In fact, if you use a computer, chances are many of its internal components were originally developed and designed by Intel Israel. For 30 years Israeli engineers have been creating new technologies that have been the driving force for the Internet explosion.

Intel chose Israel to drive the company into the 21st century because Israeli innovations are paving the technological road to tomorrow. Today Intel has centers in eight locations throughout the country, employing 5,300 Israelis.
