| Initiated by the air-force as a residential area for professional army personnel, the settlement of Re'ut consists of 1600 low-rise residential units. The homes spread out along the slopes of the hill in a series of stepped terraces, designed as a west-facing "amphitheater".
The public facilities are centrally located and include schools, a shopping center and a civic center. The bare hilltop sites, free of construction, balance the centralized relationships between the private and public domains. Green pedestrian walkways connect the levels of the settlement, which is characterized by its gentle integration into the soft landscape of the area. | |
