The neighborhood of Manhat spreads out from an Arab village down a hillside overlooking Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem. The residential compound houses fourteen units divided into four quarters; at the center of each quarter is a protected courtyard which serves as a play area for children and as a meeting place. In
each home there are courtyards and a solarium. Traditional architectural elements such as vaults, apertures, balconies, and the patterns of the openings are drawn from the architectural codex of the Arab village, with a new interpretation attuned to contemporary lifestyles.
