| Carved into the hillside, the structure becomes a direct interpretation of local context. The action of digging into the slope not only liberates the interior space, but allows the incorporation of excavated material to complete the exterior expanse in the form of Jerusalem stone terraces. This stone pierces the sanctuary and reinforces the building as a shelter for the spirit. The connection to the hillside encourages focus towards the surrounding landscape. | |
