Promoting Israel-China hi-tech cooperation

17 May 2006
Israel's IT Delegation 2006
A Window to the Technologies of the Future
Shanghai & Hangzhou
22-24 May 2006

In May 2006, Israel will hold its annual IT seminar in China, in which nine Israeli companies, dealing with various aspects of the IT industries, will take part. This annual event has been held since August 2001. Past seminars led to useful contacts and negotiations with new counterparts, and feedback from the participating companies was very positive.

The seminar will serve as a good opportunity for the Chinese and Israeli hi-tech companies, to present their companies, technologies and products, and to make useful contacts, towards future cooperation.

The 2006 IT delegation is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the on the Israeli side, and the Informtization Commission of Shanghai, the Zhejiang Provincial IT Bureau, on the Chinese side. Considering the achievements of the Israeli hi-tech and the rapid development of the hi-tech sectors in eastern China, and especially in the Shanghai - Zhejiang - Jiangsu region, we believe there is a substantial potential for cooperation between Israel and the PRC in this field.

Over the past two decades, Israel has established itself as a leading international center of hi-tech entrepreneurship and technological R&D. With a strong academic infrastructure and massive support from the government of Israel and the private sector, the Israeli industry is a major international base for developing the cutting edge technologies of the international hi-tech industry. Israeli-made technologies can be found today at the forefront of almost every hi-tech sector: telecommunications, software, internet, bio-technology, medical equipment, etc. Moreover, thousands of Israeli companies, start-ups and R&D centers are developing the next generations of future technologies. The hi-tech industry is today one of the main pillars of the Israeli economy, contributing more than 75% of Israel's industrial exports.

The 2006 IT Delegation's program will include:

  • May 22 - Seminar and meetings with the large Telecom carriers in Shanghai, the spearhead of economic development in China, and a business seminar, allowing for one-on-one business meetings.
  • May 23 - Participation at Elecomm 2006, the major IT-related exhibition in Shanghai, at which we will have an Israeli information booth.
  • May 24 - Seminar and meetings with the large Telecom carriers in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province and one of the most developed provinces in China.
