  Commemorative Rabin Stamp

Israel Postal Authority
December 5, 1995

On November 23, 1995, Mrs. Leah Rabin received the first commemorative stamp of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin from the Minister of Communications, Shulamit Aloni.

The stamp bears the official portrait of the late Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin, with the flag of Israel in the background. The stamp was designed by Yitzhak Granot of the Philatelic Service, based on a photograph taken by Yaacov Saar of the Government Press Office. The stamp, which is of large dimensions, is printed in shades of grey and dark blue. The stated price of the stamp is 5 NIS, and the State Seal is embossed in a special and unique silver print. A hand written passage from the "Song of Peace" appears on the first-day cover.

The Postal Authority will dedicate the revenue of the commemorative stamp of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin to the Museum of Posts and Philately that will open in a year and a half in the pavilion of "The History of Posts and Philately", in the Tel Aviv Israel Museum.

The Director of Philatelic Services of the Postal Authority also issued a special commemorative paper that includes the envelope, the stamp and an entire fifteen-stamp page commemorating late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

The stamp commemorating the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was issued on the thirtieth day from his assassination, December 5th 1995, and will be offered to the public at seven hundred post offices.

Copies of the stamp will be presented to the dozens of heads of State and heads of Government, who attended the funeral.

The nominal values of the philatelic memorial items are as follows:
