Steering Committee Convenes to Implement Wye

Following the agreement between Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, representatives of the joint steering committee met yesterday (Thursday) 29.7.99 to discuss how to implement unfulfilled the commitments of agreements signed between Israel and the PA, including the Wye River Memorandum.
The meeting was held in a good, constructive and trusting atmosphere.
Both parties intend to utilize the two weeks period agreed to by PM Barak and Chairman Arafat to consolidate recommendations for the needs and mechanisms to implement their mutual commitments. The steering and joint supervisory committees have been reactivated for this purpose and it was agreed to meet again soon.
