  Social-Economic Activity Weekly Report

1. International Crossings

A. Allenby

  1. Passages: Entry - 2,188 persons; exit - 4,848 persons.
  2. Open and working as usual between 08:00-24:00 without the presence of Palestinian border control personnel.

B. Rafiah

  1. Passages: Entry - 723 persons; exit: 2,549 persons.
  2. The terminal is operating without the presence of Palestinian border control personnel, who refuse to undergo the standard security check (magnometer) upon entry into the terminal.
  3. The Counter-Terrorism Department has authorized the entry of the Palestinian warehouse manager into the terminal, unchecked, so that the necessary paperwork for the processing of donations can be completed.
  4. Opening hours: 08:00 until dark (~16:30).

C. Gaza International Airport

  1. Passages: 22 departures - 1,352 passengers; 20 arrivals - 563 passengers.
  2. The Israeli team/crew waits outside Rafiah terminal and enters the airport 15 minutes before take-off/landing.

2. Humanitarian Donations

Donation from Iraq: 68 trucks of flour, sugar, rice, powdered milk and oil. Coordinated together with the Palestinians on a "phased" entry. 12 trucks have already been processed. Four trucks are delayed at Allenby Bridge because of custom's refusal to perform the checks according to the strict directives due to the high costs.

3. Employment in Israel

A. Workers (continuous employment)

  1. Gaza: 3,000 work permits have been issued. On Thursday, 14.12.2000, 30 workers went to work in Israel.
  2. West Bank: 5,546 permits have been issued to Palestinians as of 14.12.2000.

B. Business

Authorized the issuing of 200 business permits (holders of BMC) to enter Israel to do business with one day permits without a car. Gaza - 60, West Bank - 140.

4. Entry of Construction Materials

  1. Cement to Gaza from Ashdod port, Nesher Company, via Karni - 162 trucks. Cement is processed through by the "back to back" system through Erez - 57 trucks.
  2. Cement from Israel to the West Bank - 107 trucks.
  3. Cement from Jordan (to Mussa Alami in Jericho) - 73 trucks.

5. Entry of Petrol and Gas

  1. To Gaza: 1,020,000 liters of benzene and diesel oil & 1,720 tons of gas.
  2. To the West Bank: 1,444,000 liters of benzene and diesel oil & 490 tons of gas.
  3. On 7.12.2000, 80,000 liters of aviation fuel were delivered to Gaza International Airport (since 4.12.2000, 655,000 liters of aviation fuel have been provided).

6. Karni Passage

  1. Goods to Israel: 676 trucks.
  2. Goods to Gaza: 909 trucks.
  3. Karni I.E.: 15 trucks to Israel, seven trucks to Gaza.

7. Tourism Foreign passport holders are permitted entry to the West Bank and Gaza.

8. Movement

  1. VIP category 1 has free unchecked movement to Israel and to and from the West Bank and Gaza.
  2. Routes from north to south Gaza have been allowed free passage/use, subject to situation of riots.
  3. The return of Palestinians "caught" between the West Bank and Gaza is being enabled. Gaza - on 15.12.2000; West Bank - on 17.12.2000.
