PM Barak Accepts US President Clinton's Invitation to Summit

(Communicated by the Prime Minister's Media Adviser)

Prime Minister Ehud Barak today (Wednesday), July 5, 2000, has accepted US President Bill Clinton's invitation to attend a summit conference with the goal of advancing the negotiations with the Palestinians.

Israel attributes utmost importance to exhausting all chances of reaching settlements with our neighbors.

The Israeli delegation, led by Prime Minister Barak, will go to the discussions with goodwill and out of a sense of responsibility for the future of all Israeli citizens. Israel will uphold its vital interests in every discussion and agreement - security and otherwise - and will not sign any agreement that does not strengthen the country and its residents.
