Moshe Katsav
Eighth President of the State of Israel 2000-2007

 
 
  Moshe Katsav was born in 1945 in Iran. He immigrated to Israel in 1951. Married to Gila, father of five, he has lived in Kiryat Malachi since 1951.

Education

Facing charges of rape, sexual harassment, breach of trust, obstruction of justice, harassment of a witness and fraud, in accordance with a plea agreement, Moshe Katsav resigned from the presidency effective 1 July 2007.
On 30 December 2010, Katsav was unanimously found guilty of "rape, sexual harassment, committing an indecent act while using force, harassing a witness and obstruction of justice" by a three judge panel, presided over by Justice George Kara. On March 22, 2011, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison and 2 years probation.
