Named after the first president of Israel, Weizmann Shiri was born in Israel in 1956.
A resident of the southern town of Omer, Shiri served as Chairman of the Negev Region of Israel Labor Party and was elected to the Knesset in 1999. He served as a member of the Knesset House, Finance, Economics, and Internal Affairs and Environment Committees. He also served as Chairman of the Joint Committee for the Defense Budget.
Weizmann Shiri served as Deputy Minister of Defense from August-October 2002.
He is married, with three children.
