Israel Independence Day Message from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Avigdor Liberman to the Jewish Communities
As we stand and celebrate our freedom and our 61 years of independence, I would first and foremost like to share with you my deepest and most sincere desire for security, peace, and the wellbeing of the Jewish people throughout the world.
Sixty-one years ago, the declaration of independence unified the Jewish people, both in Israel and in the entire world, and every other nation that supported the idea of a reborn Jewish state. The spirit of the Jewish people helped us win the War of Independence and establish the State of Israel, and helped us prevail against those who wished to destroy us.
We have paid a high price to keep our independence. I am referring to almost a dozen wars and thousands of terrorist attacks that have caused nearly 25,000 casualties as well as thousands of wounded. The price we have paid has strengthened our resolve to overcome our enemies and we are more than ever committed to protect citizens of Israel wherever they live.
Now is the time for unity, both at home and abroad, because only together we will be able to face the threats posed by terrorism, anti-Israeli hatred and antisemitism.
We must act together and in solidarity in order to ensure the continuation of the Jewish people's rights, vigor, and role in contributing to the improvement of the world we live in.
Despite its small size, Israel is a country with huge potential and incredible achievements. Israel has proven that it has become a global pioneer in a number of fields, from science and the economy to international cooperation, and a vibrant democracy through its freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Together, the State of Israel and the Jews of the Diaspora have an enormous inherent potential to contribute to the advancing of prosperity on a global scale, and can consolidate Jewish existence, based on our heritage, values, and respect and dignity for all.
It is certainly a must to promote peaceful discourse among ourselves and genuine peace with our neighbors. Simultaneously, we must take those measures that are necessary for safeguarding Jewish life wherever it may be, Israel's security, and the rights of the Jewish people in its homeland. We must encourage and support the next generation of Jewish leadership because since the establishment of the State of Israel, we have been partners in the Zionist enterprise, and we must now be partners in leading our people to a vibrant and brighter future.
On a personal note, I can tell you firsthand about the fortitude of the Zionist enterprise and I would like to invite each and every one of you to join us here in Israel, where we absolutely believe in dreams and make them come true.
I look forward to meeting with you in your communities and here in Jerusalem, the eternal and undivided capital of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.

Mensaje del Vice-Primer Ministro y Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores Sr. Avigdor Liberman a las comunidades judías
Al iniciarse las celebraciones con motivo de nuestra libertad y de los 61 años de nuestra independencia, quisiera ante todo compartir con ustedes mis más sentidos y sinceros deseos de paz, seguridad y bienestar para todo el pueblo judío en el mundo entero.
Hace sesenta y un años la Declaración de Independencia unió a todo el pueblo judío, tanto en Israel como en el mundo entero, y contó con el aplauso de todos los países que apoyaban la idea del renacimiento de un Estado judío. El espíritu del pueblo judío nos ayudó a ganar la Guerra de Independencia y fundar el Estado de Israel, permitiéndonos prevalecer sobre quienes deseaban destruirnos.
Hemos pagado un pesado tributo para preservar nuestra independencia. Me refiero a la decena de guerras y a los miles de atentados terroristas, que han dejado un saldo de casi 25.000 muertos y muchos millares de heridos. El precio que hemos tenido que pagar ha reforzado nuestra inquebrantable resolución de mantener a raya a nuestros enemigos. Estamos hoy más que nunca firmemente decididos a proteger a los ciudadanos de Israel dondequiera que se encuentren.
Esta es la hora de la unidad, tanto en Israel como en la Diáspora, porque sólo unidos podremos hacer frente a las amenazas del terrorismo, del odio antiisraelí y del antisemitismo.
Debemos obrar juntos y unidos, a fin de garantizar la preservación de nuestros derechos y de la vitalidad del pueblo judío y reforzar nuestra contribución al mejoramiento del mundo en el que vivimos.
A pesar de su exigua extensión, Israel es un país de inmenso potencial, que se ha anotado logros increíbles. Israel se ha convertido en país pionero a nivel mundial en una variedad de campos, desde la ciencia y la economía hasta la cooperación internacional, y a la vez, es una democracia ejemplar, en la que prevalecen la libertad de palabra y la libertad de culto. Juntos, el Estado de Israel y los judíos de la Diáspora, poseemos una capacidad extraordinaria para contribuir al fomento de la prosperidad a escala mundial, consolidando al propio tiempo la existencia judía, sobre la base de nuestro legado y nuestros valores, siempre dentro del respeto a la dignidad de todos.
Nos incumbe a todos la obligación de promover el diálogo pacífico entre nosotros y la paz genuina con nuestros vecinos. Paralelamente, debemos tomar las medidas apropiadas para salvaguardar la vida judía en todo lugar, la seguridad de Israel, y los derechos del pueblo judío en su tierra ancestral. Debemos alentar y apoyar a la próxima generación de liderazgo judío, porque desde la fundación del Estado de Israel estamos asociados en el proyecto sionista y ahora debemos asociarnos en la tarea de guiar a nuestro pueblo hacia un futuro radiante y ardoroso.
A la luz de mi experiencia personal, deseo subrayar la fortaleza del proyecto sionista. Invito a todos y cada uno de ustedes a unirse a nosotros aquí en Israel donde creemos plenamente en los sueños y los convertimos en realidades.
Estoy ansioso de encontrarme con ustedes en sus respectivas comunidades y aquí, en Jerusalén, la capital eterna e indivisible del Estado de Israel y del pueblo judío.

В этот торжественный день, когда мы празднуем день нашей свободы и независимости, 61-ую годовщину провозглашения Государства Израиль, я хотел бы от всего сердца пожелать мира, безопасности и благополучия еврейскому народу во всем мире.
61 год назад Декларация Незавимости сплотила еврейский народ, как в Израиле, так и за его пределами, обеспечила ему поддержку со стороны других народов, выступавших за возрождение еврейской государственности. Стойкость духа помогла нам одержать победу в Войне за Независимость, выстоять в борьбе против всех, кто вынашивал планы уничтожить нас.
Мы заплатили высокую цену за сохранение независимости: кровопролитные войны, тысячи актов террора – около 25 тысяч погибших, тысячи и тысячи раненых. Тяжелая цена, но, уж заплатив ее, мы тем более полны решимости преодолеть все трудности и обеспечить безопасность граждан Израиля, где бы они не находились.
Сейчас, как никогда, мы обязаны крепить наше единство, в Израиле и за его пределами, так как только вместе мы можем противостоять угрозе со стороны тех, кто несет террор, сеет ненависть к Израилю, разжигает антисемитизм.
Мы призваны объединить усилия, чтобы гарантировать соблюдение прав еврейского народа и его творческих сил, а также возможность внести свой вклад в борьбу за то, чтобы мир, в котором мы живем, стал лучше и светлее.
Наша страна занимает немного места на карте, но у нас есть огромный потенциал и более чем впечатляющие достижения. Израиль является одним из самых передовых государств в целом ряде областей – в науке и технике, в экономике и международном сотрудничестве; страной с жизнестойкой и жизнеутверждающей демократией, опирающейся на подлинную свободу слова и свободу вероисповедания. Государство Израиль и еврейство диаспоры могут по праву и в значительной мере способствовать процветанию человечества в целом, а также обеспечить прочное и надежное существование еврейского народа на основе его наследия, ценностей, достоинства и уважения к окружающим.
Мир в семье и максимум усилий для мирного сосуществования с соседями – это для нас веление времени. Наряду с этим мы обязаны принимать все необходимые меры для обеспечения права еврейского народа на безопасное существование в своем государстве. Мы должны поощрять и поддерживать новое поколение еврейских лидеров в диаспоре. С момента создания Государства Израиль мы всегда шли рука об руку, осуществляя идеалы сионистского движения, и мы будем продолжать это сотрудничество, прокладывая путь нашему народу в будущее, полное творческих свершений.
Теперь несколько слов на личной ноте: я уверен, что претворение в жизнь сионистских идеалов надежно и устойчиво, и хотел бы сказать вам, каждому из вас: приезжайте в Израиль, сюда к нам, где мы не только верим в мечту, но и осуществляем ее на практике.
