The International Institute
The International Institute trains leaders from emerging countries in different subjects, such as credit institutions for the civil society, women's empowerment programs, social security networks, rural area non-agricultural employment programs, community medicine, NGOs and the democratic society, structural adjustment and globalization of the economy, youth leadership, management of voluntary organizations, community empowerment and education for democracy and peace. The Institute provides training both in Israel and in on-the-spot courses in host countries. Courses are provided in English, Russian, Arabic, French, Spanish and Eastern European languages.

The Institute attempts to provide training solutions to the changing needs of grass-roots and community level activities for the promotion of national development in developing countries, through the civil society of people-based organizations. The central tenet of the Institute's training is the notion that peoples' organizations and organizations belonging in the civil society play an important role in sustainable development.

One of the most evident and important phenomena witnessed during 2000 was the continued expansion in activity at the Institute in the Arabic language, as we welcomed trainees from Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Djibouti and the Palestinian Authority.
