International Master's in Public Health (MPH)
| |
For the past three decades, the Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine of the
Hebrew University and the Hadassah Medical Organization has offered a one-year Master of Public
Health (MPH) degree to students from developing and developed countries. More than 600 students
from some 82 countries have completed this international program. Due to the rich academic
history of the program and the life experiences of the students and faculty alike, the School has
created an environment that is scientifically challenging and culturally stimulating.
The overall objective of the MPH Program is to provide basic knowledge on the theory and practices
of public health and community medicine for health professionals. The various courses taught at
the School range from epidemiology and statistics to family planning and health services management.
Personal contact with the School's graduates shows that these objectives are being realized and that
most are making major contributions to public health programs in their countries, regions or
communities.
An important element of the Program is the workshop on Community Oriented Primary Care
(COPC). The COPC model, as developed by the School, has been applied and considered as an
appropriate approach for the delivery of health care in diverse health systems the world over.
Graduates occupy leadership positions in their countries as heads of ministerial departments and
divisions at the national level, faculty members at academic institutions, consultants for the World
Health Organization (WHO) and in leadership positions at various non-governmental organizations
(NGO).
MASHAV is the primary sponsor of scholarships for the MPH program.
