On-the-Spot Course on Agricutural Meteorology, Turkey

The Regional Meteorological Training Center is a joint enterprise of MASHAV and the Meteorological
Service. Recognised by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) as a training center providing
postgraduate training in applied meteorology, the RMTC has trained some 2,324 meteorologists,
agronomists and hydrologists to date. The center provides training in Israel and abroad. In addition
it provides consultancies to meteorological services and undertakes research activities in applied
meteorology and agrometeorology.
The following international postgraduate courses were held in Israel in 2001:
Data Base Management in Meteorology
Crop Weather Modelling
Agricultural Meteorology
Hydrometeorolgy and Water Management.
The following consultancies and research programs were carried out during 2001:
University of Nanjing China - Lecture tour
Agrohydrology Research and Training Center, Menemen, Turkey
Research on the impact of climate, technology, soil and economic factors on cotton yields of
western Turkey.
Final preparations were completed for the Regional Training Course in Agrometeorological Information
for East Africa to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, with the suppor t of the WMO.
The Anhoi Chinese Delegation also visited Israel and participated in a week-long symposium on
Agrometeorology at the RMTC Bet Dagan.
