Environment Minister Sarid Meets with Tunisian Counterpart
(Communicated by Environment Ministry Spokeswoman)
1 November 1994

Environment Minister Yossi Sarid met on Monday, October 31, 1994, with his Tunisian counterpart, Mohammad Mahdi Malika, in Tunis. During their meeting, Malika expressed his satisfaction over the fact that an Israeli minister had received an official invitation to his country -- and that Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin had met the Tunisian Foreign Minister in Morocco.

In response to Sarid's question, Malika said that the level of contacts between Israel and Tunisia will certainly be raised in the near future. The two also discussed plans for an exchange program involving experts in environmental science, and both expressed their confidence that their countries could be successful partners in bilateral and regional environmental projects.

On Tuesday, November 1, 1994, Sarid will participate in the opening of the Conference of Environment Ministers from Mediterranean States.
